Mark Twain

Yesterday, November 30, this was on Google as the world celebrates Samuel Langhorne Clemens a.k.a. Mark Twain's birthday. And I am reminded of a friend who's really a big fan of him but no, I'm not going to blog about that.

I just thought that it's cute how Google logo reminds us of events with their artsy tribute or whatnot and it left me wondering who are the people behind those themed logos. Random thoughts. Happy birthday, Mark Twain!

We thank you for The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Today is December 1, the end of the year begins. I'd just like you to know. Nothing parallel to Mr. Twain.

Is it really me?

What do you think?

I took a psychological test and here goes the results:

Warm

You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.

Understanding

You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.

Empathetic

You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don't buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else's because unless you're happy you're incapable of making anyone else happy.

Passionate

You are in touch with your emotions, and sometimes you react before you think. The good news: you don't tamp down your feelings. The bad news: you sometimes say or do things that you later wish you could take back.
You do not live your life on an even keel; you do not go for long periods without experiencing some mood swings.

Curious

You like to get to the bottom of things. You're not content knowing what someone did; you want to know why they did it.
You don't simply take things as they are and move on; you're not content skimming along on the surface; you don't feel you're wasting time by digging for the meaning of things.

Friendly

You would rather hang out with others than spend time alone, and you'd far rather be doing something with your friends than just sitting around. You're happy in a crowded room, club, stadium, or auditorium.
You're not a private person who is ill at ease in a group; you don't view excessive socializing as a waste of time.

Tender

You are gentle with others, both physically and emotionally. You are careful not to upset people and go out of your way to find the nicest way to say something. You naturally focus on the fact that the world is full of wonderful people, places, and things. More often than not, people with a high score on the "tender" trait enjoy spending time with children, love romantic movies, and are enthusiastic about making the world a better place.
You don't think of yourself as tough-minded or gruff, nor do you need to be seen as some kind of objective source of truth and rationality.

Innovative

You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.
You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.

Sympathetic

You have a knack for knowing what's going on in the hearts and minds of those around you, without their having to tell you explicitly. People tend to turn to you with their problems because they know you care, and that you will likely offer good advice and a helping hand.
You do not feel that people with sad stories are just looking for attention, or have brought their problems upon themselves.

Original

You are constantly coming up with new ideas. For you, the world as it exists is just a jumping-off place; what's going on inside your mind is often more interesting than what's going on outside.
You don't feel that the road to success is to be a realist and stick to the program; you never stop yourself from coming up with new ideas or telling the world what you're thinking about.

Do you agree with the results? Tell me about it. I would love to hear from you.

Warning: Killer Exams Ahead

Say hello to my review props! These are my reading materials for my Literary Criticism Exam. Actually, aside from this, I got a lot of exams to battle this Prelim week: Ethics. BroadJrn. Land reform and Taxation. So I really need to read, read, read and STUDY. I have to focus and fight with my sleepy head. My brain will be exhausted, I know, but it's all good, even if I'm busy with a lot of things there are still several reasons keeping me sane. There's still writing and you, right?

I just updated this blog to tell you I am busy but this blog is still alive and the 'blogger' is undergoing a lot of pressure right now and will make it up to you next time.

I was there

...NOT. I'm blogging Maroon 5 videos because I missed their concert last May 23. You know how I'm a sucker for concerts and events. I missed them last last year as well and I can't forgive myself that I missed them again this year. But, what can I do? I'm broke and concerts are like mushrooms nowadays. Good artists every now and then. Oooh.. I remember Incubus too! Oh well, I just hope the next time they come back, I'll get to see them live. What's to die for, anyway? Answer: Adam Levine. One name says it all.

P.S. I posted videos with lyrics I love. Plus Slash and Adam's live performance at The Ellen De Generes Show.

"I've had you so many times but somehow I want more." -She will be loved

"Give me something to believe in 'cause I don't believe in you anymore, anymore." -Makes me wonder

"Sunday morning rain is falling and I’m calling out to you// Singing someday it’ll bring me back to you//Find a way to bring myself home to you." -Sunday Morning

"Why does every moment have to be so hard?" -Won't go home without you

"Take it, take it all. Take all that I have. I'd give it all away just to get you back." -Never gonna leave this bed

"You just get me like I've never been gotten before." -Gotten

P.P.S. Someday... I will be love. *fingers crossed*

ACK.

FACEPALM.

May 25. FACEPALM DAY. I just usually rant on Twitter but I feel like blogging this so okay, here goes a rant for all my efforts wasted on that Wednesday.

Went to some place alone just because. Gone through a bad weather (a typhoon), heavy traffic and a jam-packed train. Arrived alive. Waited til the evening. But only for nothing. Forced to go home because there's nothing to expect and look forward to. Wasted a day. The end.

Forever alone moment.

Hate the fact that I can't do nothing but facepalm all my feelings for that day. If only.

On repeat.

Taya- Up Dharma Down

Kagabi
di matapos-tapos ang
nobelang binubuo
sa mumunting isipan ko
Kakitiran
namimilit pang mangatuwiran
Iniipon ang mga pagkakataon
sa isang sulok at
pinagdurugtong dugtong

Dugtong (dugtong)
Kapit (kapit)
Kabig (kabig)
Palit (palit)

Huli na
ang lahat
para bawiin ang hindi nararapat
Anu ba? umayos ka
Wala nang magagawa sa
nahulog na tayong dalawa
at tayong dalawa

Urong (urong)
Sulong (sulong)
Urong-sulong na lamang ba?

Sakit (sakit)
Bakit (bakit)
Bakit ako na lamang ang natitira?

Kasalanan mo ang lahat nang 'to
Bakit ako ang pinapag ba-bayad mo?
Kasalanan mo nang lahat nang 'to, oh~

Nagtataka ako, bakit siya ang pinili mo?

Been raping the play button of my Kindle and Itunes just because I'm getting addicted to this song. Just like when I got addicted to their songs 'Oo' and 'Tadhana.'The lyrics hit me like a bomb, the melody is relaxing and just perfect for my chillax afternoons. This song has been on my play-list for a long time now, but haven't listened to it closely like now. You know what happens when I get addicted to a song, the play count on my Itunes will just grow and grow in number and the lyrics stays in my head for too long. That also happened some time in February when I got in love with Sugarfree songs, good thing I got over it now but I still listen to it from time to time. Just thought I'd like to share this. Notice the lyrics I italicized I love them words. Check out the music video as well, it's cool. Kudos to UDD! I'm a fan. \m/

This is what it feels like.

(On the left corner are the books I've read this year, while on the right corner are book I have yet to read)

I bet this is what it feels like to be unemployed. I just finished my internship for broadcast but I haven't started my On-the Job-training for print yet and I'm aiming to have one after the Holy Week but for now these books will keep me busy.

I. Books I've read
: Kiko Machine Blg. 5 Venn Man- Manix Abrera, Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan- Bob Ong, Daddy Long Legs- Jean Webster and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde- Robert Louis Stevenson.

II. Future read-list: To Kill a Mocking Bird- Harper Lee, Great short works of Mark Twain- Mark Twain, The Return of Sherlock Holmes- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes: The complete novels and Stories Volume I- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Me and Mr. Darcy- Alexandra Potter, The Kitchen God's Wife- Amy Town, The Murder in Mesopotamia- Agatha Christie, Portrait of a Lady- Henry James and Where the heart is- Billie Letts

Most of these books were second-hand. I hoarded them intentionally for summer vacay but it turns out that I'd be spending most of my time on my OJT, however, for now that I still have my free time I'd be reading these along with the E-books I downloaded for my Kindle.

What was I thinking really, I can't stop myself from buying books. If I see one that's good enough for my taste and the price is good enough for my pocket I'd go buy them even when my stock of books are still piled up. I know, books are to be read and not just meant to be stocked. My friend always tell me that, but, I still feel like buying them even when I have a lot already. Here goes my impulsive self again. Don't you worry, I promise I will read them when I have time.

P.S. That's the reason why my Twain book's with my friend already. Only because it's been with me for a long time and still haven't read a page of it. My bad. Sorry, my beloved books.

III. Additional to-reads: A million little pieces- James Frey and 4 Archie Comic Digest courtesy of Ate Mary.

So, I bought another book at Booksale and these comic digests arrived from New York. Thank you, Ate Mary!

Oh my, my read-lists are getting longer but I love it. I'll never get bored with a book in hand. For now I will just control myself and stop buying books. Err. But that won't keep me from visiting bookstores.
